Why can't I get myself organized?

Why can’t I get organized on my own?

I have heard that question from four clients this week! They always add, “ not that I don’t enjoy your company and find you a lovely person, but why can’t I get organized on my own?”  There are several reasons why:

  • None of us find time to do something we don’t know how to do, don’t like to do or find emotionally and mentally exhausting to do.  I am there to teach youhow to de-clutter and organize in a way that fits the way you think. I provide emotional and mental support when you are ready to give up.

  • As human beings, we need each other to motivate us, cheer us on, and hold us accountable.  There are some personalities that are self motivated but all of us need it on some level.  I need these same things and I have to be willing to allow others to provide these for me.

  • De-cluttering and organizing can be breeding grounds for an unpleasant “discussion.” Having a non-emotional third party present can take the nagging family or friend out of the picture or at least provide a safe and balanced atmosphere for everyone to walk away as winners.

  • Sometimes the job is just too big for one person to tackle on their own.  Many of my clients live alone and some jobs require two people to complete.

We all have emotional and mental blocks that require moving from time to time and I can give you a different perspective to help move you through the blocks.  It is hard to see the forest for the trees sometimes and it helps to have someone else help us to see what we can’t see.

Whatever your reason for not being able to organize yourself, I hope you will not think that you are alone!  Millions of people need a professional organizer but few have the courage to call and ask for help.  You have made the vital first step so celebrate your successes and stop listening to the lie that you should be able to do this on your own. Don’t let a spouse, friend or family member guilt you either because they have areas that they need help in as well.

Think about the skills and abilities that you provide for others and how much joy it brings you to provide that.  Know that you make this professional organizer feel very special that you allow her to bring order and function to the chaos that frustrates you.
